How will I stick to my new years resolution?

You may be wondering, what is a new year’s resolution? A New Year’s resolution is one’s intend to change their behavior or lifestyle with the coming New Year. Most common examples of New Year’s resolutions are losing a certain amount of weight, quit smoking, save money, become more active, eat healthier etc. However, most people don’t lay out a plan on how to achieve their goal. Therefore, their plan usually results in failure. First of all you need to be mentally prepared to makes to those changes, because where there is a will, there is a way! Keep telling yourself, that you can do it. Second you need to lay out a plan on how you will implement and maintain your resolution. Without a plan you will be lost, it’s like driving a car, but you don’t know where you’re going. A good plan will certainly guide your towards your desired results.

The New Year is fast approaching, with just a few days to go. With a new year, come new resolutions, hopes and dreams. Like the rest of the people, I too also have a new year’s resolution, which I am serious about implementing for myself. This New Year I want to dedicate more time to studying and become more organized with my schedule. Currently my schedule is highly unorganized and this is resulting in lost productivity. The blame factor lies with my domestic environment, as everyone in my family sleeps late, and thus wakes up late as a result. Naturally, I also have adopted this habit. I sleep around 4:00 hours and I tend to wake up around 15:00 hours on average, and this is also affecting my health. Furthermore, I am unable to study as everyone in my family wakes up around the same time and soon as they wake up; my house becomes a house of noises. With the noises comes disruption. My family members also tend to come in and out of my room, which disrupts my concentration.

So how do I plan to implement my new year’s resolution? First of all I need to sleep on time. I plan to go to sleep around 22:00 hours, and wake up around 8:30 hours. After waking up I need to hit the books, while the rest of my family is still in deep sleep. I plan on studying a good four hours. After studying I can start working on my projects, because I work as a freelance writer and I really need to concentrate on my work, to produce good articles. Around 19:00 hours, I am all done with study and work and I can relax and watch TV. However, I know for a fact the key to my success is consistency and determination. I may fail at first to adjust to my new schedule, but eventually I will get use to it.

Thus in the end; you don’t really need a new year for a new resolution, you should be able to implement changes in your life at any point in time. However, society has made a new year’s resolution simply an excuse for a new change.
